Alchemy of Souls season 2 (Alchemy of Souls Part 2: Light and Shadow/ 환혼: 파트2) is the sequel of the Korean historical drama series directed by Park Joon-hwa and starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seung-ho, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Na-ra and Jo Jae-yoon, alongside other cast members.
The sequel brings the story 3 years after the tragic ending we witnessed in season 1, and with Go Yoon-jung joining the cast as the new female lead. As Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters, a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.
With episodes 5 and 6 bringing us halfway through the sequel of the historical fantasy that stole our hearts, the preview has given us a glimpse of the resuming romance that will finally give this pair of lovers a happy ending. As Jang Uk finally begins to let go of Mu-deok, what will these upcoming episodes bring for us?
So here’s what to expect from the upcoming episode!
Alchemy of Souls Season 2: What to Expect in Episodes 5 and 6?
After the bittersweet Jang Uk moment that we all witnessed at the end of episode 4 where we saw him crying out for Mu-deok and later kissing Jin Bu-yeon; the upcoming episodes will definitely show them getting closer. But episode 4 also showed master Lee’s return to Songrim which indicates that Jang Uk is soon to face the truth about Jin Bu-yeon.
But let’s begin with the change in their relationship- we can see that Jang Uk and Bu-yeon are getting closer in the upcoming episodes, but is this really happening or is this just Jang Uk’s plan so that she can help him take out the ice stone and end his life.
Meanwhile, master Lee tries to convince Jin Ho-kyung to reveal the truth because this is something that he cannot do. Also, this might be because of the impending dangers that can destroy Jang Uk and Bu-yeon very soon, at least that’s what we can make out of Jin Mu’s plans.
In episode 4 we also saw the queen mention something about performing a ritual to get their hands on the ice stone, but because this stone is inside Jang Uk, are they trying to forcefully take it out of him to gain power and also kill him? This seems like something Jin Mu is very capable of planning and also a possibility that we would see in the upcoming episodes.
The preview also showed the crown prince trying to convince Jin Mu to not steer through this path, however, all he can do is try to convince Jin Mu because the latter definitely has a secret that has become Go Won’s Achilles heel. And looks like this is something that has to do with Jang Uk and Mu-deok which makes it all the more sensitive.
Finally, episodes 5 and 6 will also reveal Seo Yul’s true intentions for coming back to Daeho and there seems to be a possibility of him finally remembering who Jin Bu-yeon reminds him of. This weekend is bound to bring another round of intensity to the plot of Alchemy of Souls and the wait is almost unbearable.
Alchemy of Souls season 2 episode 5 is set to release on December 24, 2022, at 9:10 PM KST (7:30 PM IST) on Netflix.
Alchemy of Souls season 2 episode 6 will follow episode 3 the next day as it releases on December 25, 2022, at the same time.
